In this initial stage, we’ll use Ethephon to "hack" a male cannabis plant by increasing ethylene levels, prompting it to do something unusual, produce female flowers.
However, these are not just any female flowers, but ones with an XY genetic configuration, challenging typical breeding goals aimed at XX female flowers.
Our goal is to induce the male plant to flower, apply Ethephon, and observe both the formation of conventional XY male flowers and the appearance of mutated XY female flowers, characterized by five pistils.
We will then facilitate the self-pollination of this "hacked" plant to obtain seeds.
These seeds, as a result of an XY x XY combination, may generate three possible plant types: XY males, YY females, and, theoretically, innovative YY SuperMales.
